Ferry Panama - Colombia - Panama (car and passengers)
Car ferry Cartagena - Colon - Cartagena
As of 31/05/2012, a new ferry service between Colon and Cartagena resume their regular service. According to an e-mail from travelers, the first trip was postponed from 10/05/2012 to 31/05/2012.
Update 04/28/12
Travelers report that vehicles are transporting only from mid-June. There are problems with the authorities in Colombia. Other travelers have learned that all of these schedules is "very optimistic" and the ferry Panama - Colombia will not go in the near future.
The information to travelers are also different and not very specific, so that can not be assumed that a timely first run. Travelers should not currently rely on the dates mentioned for the first run of the ferry, even though money for the tickets and reservations will be accepted even you.
The Greek ferry Nissos Rodos of "Hellenic Seaways" has room for 1,500 passengers, 500 vehicles and containers. Journey time approx 12 hours - Departure: 18:00 Arrival: 7:00 clock time, in both directions. Thus, the shipping between Panama and Colombia and the crossing of the Darien Gap (will Darien Gap ) for Pan-American travelers much easier.

The transshipment of the Darien Gap ( Darien Gap ) - by RoRo, container or flat rack - is one of the organizational challenges of a Pan-American trip. South is usually of Panama (PA) shipped to Colombia (CO), from Panama to Ecuador (EC) or from Costa Rica (CR) to Ecuador. Northbound vice versa accordingly.
